Alabama's Largest Cardiovascular Group Opens State-of-the-Art Facility
Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Planned for September 12
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - September 10, 2012 - Cardiovascular Associates (CVA), one of Alabama's largest and oldest cardiovascular groups, will open a new outpatient treatment center September 12 at The Colonnade. The $20 million facility will allow CVA's 28 physicians to practice in a single location for greater integration of services and improved patient experience.
WHAT: Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Event
WHERE: Cardiovascular Associates, 3980 Colonnade Parkway
WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, Official Remarks & Ribbon Cutting at 10 a.m.
CVA's new 74,000-square-foot facility is located at the Colonnade, conveniently off I-459. The location was selected to offer easier access to the 140,000 patients seen by CVA physicians annually. The layout was designed for optimal patient flow, with complimentary street-level parking, a full range of on-site diagnostic testing, color-coded care areas and a streamlined process for patient check-in. It features 54 patient exam rooms, 42 clinic rooms and 12 triage rooms. The building was designed by Giattina Aycock Architecture Studio, Inc. and built by Brasfield & Gorrie.
"The opening of this new, central facility is a milestone for our physicians and culminates a lengthy search for the ideal location to best serve the diverse and growing CVA patient base," says CVA President Dr. John T. Eagan, Jr. "Our new space provides a more convenient, personalized patient experience and increased collaboration between our physicians, allowing our practice to provide unmatched integrated cardiovascular care."
The opening of the new facility marks a year since CVA announced a strategic partnership with Brookwood Medical Center. The partnership operates as a subsidiary of Brookwood's parent company, Tenet Healthcare Corporation (THC).
Brookwood President and Chief Executive Officer Garry Gause says, "CVA and Brookwood worked closely to strategically plan this new space in order to offer patients an improved experience. Everything from parking to operational flow was studied to increase efficiency and reduce patient wait time. The opening of this state-of-the-art facility and partnership gives patients even greater access to two of the Southeast's cardiovascular leaders."
In addition to improvements to patient experience, the new facility provides an environment for cardiovascular research as well as future growth. The new building also features event space that will be used to educate both physicians and patients about innovations in treatment and preventive practices in cardiovascular care. As early as 2013, CVA will add an on-site pharmacy, cardiac rehabilitation, a sleep lab and a vein center.
CVA also operates a full service CVA Shelby County practice, along with nine other satellite outpatient clinics throughout central Alabama. CVA specialties include carotid stenting, congenital heart disease, congestive heart failure, electrophysiology, general cardiology, interventional cardiology, invasive cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, pulmonary hypertension, structural heart disease, venous disease and women's cardiology.
