What to Expect on Your First Visit

For_Patients_Desk

At Cardiovascular Associates, our patients are our top priority. We work with you as partners in your health and aim to provide excellent cardiovascular care with a high level of patient satisfaction. To prepare for your appointment, please read through the information in this section.

Managing Appointments

If your need for an appointment is urgent, please notify us when you call, and we will make every effort for you to see a physician immediately. After seeing a CVA physician, please stop at the checkout desk before you leave to make an appointment for your next visit. If you find that you will not be able to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance by calling (205) 510-5000.

Your Medical Information

Upon arrival, please update us on any new, relevant information that we should have in your medical record. For each visit, we encourage you to bring:

  • updated copy of your medical history,
  • list of all medications you are currently taking, and
  • written diagnostic testing instructions or physician orders

You may also have your primary care physician mail or fax your medical history to us prior to your appointment.

Because we use a comprehensive electronic medical record system, all of your important information is updated at each visit and readily available to your care team and is accessible to on-call physicians in an emergency.

Understanding Your Medication

We believe it is important to your overall health to familiarize yourself with the names and dosages of your medications. Always bring a list of the medications you're taking to every appointment and hospital visit, and please inform us of any drug allergies you may have.

Your Feedback is Important to Us

Cardiovascular Associates conducts random, confidential surveys to determine your satisfaction with your patient experience. If you are contacted or asked to participate in one of these surveys, we would appreciate your participation. Your input helps us gauge your satisfaction and make improvements to better serve our patients.
