Why Choose Us?
Because We Are You
We are doctors by oath, but our passion for people and their health distinguishes us. We take pride in our ability to save and improve lives. We are members of your community; mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, wives, husbands, and grandparents... just like you. We want to work with you to help you live a long, healthy life for those you love.
CVA was founded in 1946 by Dr. John B. Burrett of Birmingham. Dr. Burrett was the first cardiologist to practice in the state of Alabama. His legacy of dedication, skill, and compassion remains at the heart of the practice today. As a tribute to Dr. Burrett, each year CVA honors an outstanding individual who has contributed significantly to the advancement of cardiovascular healthcare in Alabama. The Honoree receives the prestigious John Burrett, MD Award.
A History of Serving
Centered in Birmingham, Alabama, Cardiovascular Associates is comprised of cardiologists who specialize in an array of diagnosis and treatment options. Over the many decades since the 1940s, CVA has created an impressive network of talent, skill, and technology put to use for our patients everyday. Here at CVA, our patients aren't just cared for — they are cared about.
Experience is Important
Cardiovascular Associates has served the members of our community for over 70 years. Our many years of combined experience is a powerful force when serving each and every patient that comes through our doors.
We are concerned with the whole you; therefore, our physicians treat all of your heart and blood vessel problems from head to toe. We offer our patients comprehensive programs with a wide spectrum of care. This broad approach serves to improve our patients' quality of life while providing access to new treatments and leading edge technology.
We are proud to offer our patients a comprehensive range of cardiac services from general cardiology to diagnostics, interventions, and specialty clinics. Our experienced team of cardiologists and nurse practitioners are equipped to serve you, whether you are experiencing your first cardiac symptoms, or need treatment for a pre-existing, serious cardiac condition.
Prevention and Non-Surgical Preferences
The best way to reduce the impact of heart disease is to stop it before it advances. That's why we emphasize education and prevention, with a strong belief in the old adage, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." We also offer non-surgical treatment for many conditions that normally require major surgery.
Power in Numbers
Our cardiologists are at the forefront of new treatment options, focusing on research and using the latest technology to combat cardiovascular disease. In addition to our main campus location, we have a number of other outreach locations in Childersburg, Cullman, Fultondale, Homewood, Hoover, Jemison, North Shelby, Pell City, Sylacauga, Talladega, and Winfield. We leverage our large number of physicians and our many locations to serve our community with comprehensive cardiovascular care.
The Legacy Continues
Today, CVA is recognized as one of the largest and most respected cardiovascular practices in the Southeast. Our medical staff is comprised of a healthy balance of nationally recognized experts, as well as recently trained cardiologists, in order to maintain our position at the forefront of cardiovascular care. This excellence in medical care exists for one reason: our patients.
